About Michael
Serial entrepreneur Michael Cleavely's instinct for business started at 11, running a small gardening enterprise for neighbours. He went on to found Triple Seven, a workforce consultancy for the digital and fintech sectors, and sold it to Experis Manpower in 2013.
In 2021, while running an IT consultancy, a large enterprise client asked him for help. IR35 reform had just moved responsibility for worker classification onto hiring organisations, and the client had no idea how many contractors it was using. Michael spent weeks working through 8,000 lines of supplier data to find out.
It showed him almost every large organisation faced the same external worker data challenge. He founded CoComply in 2023 to catch workforce compliance risk before it happens.
Since then, CoComply has won an Innovate UK Smart Grant (2024), awarded each year to a small fraction of the UK's most innovative companies. Michael has led a £1.9m investment round backed by Haatch, Mercia Ventures and some of the UK's leading entrepreneurs and investors. CoComply's customers include Aston Martin, Take-Two, RS Group and Dementia UK.
